Boggsville Historic District

Established in 1866, Boggsville is located on the Purgatoire River and once thrived as part of the New West. Along with the significance that this small settlement had in commerce and agriculture, the women of Boggsville contributed to the refinement offered along the Santa Fe Trail. Boggsville was also the last home of the famed Kit Carson. Operated by the Bent County Historical Society, the site features the 1862 Boggs House, the 1867 Prowers House and a short walking trail through the settlement.
