By Executive Order 9066, over 7,000 Japanese, most American citizens, were forcibly imprisoned at the Granada Relocation Center from 1942-1945. The Granada site, though the smallest of the World War II internment camps, became the 10th largest concentrations of people in the state of Colorado. It is one of the best preserved of all the internment sites, with intact foundations and little subsequent development. Some original structures have now been returned to the site, including a barracks.
Open for touring daily during daylight hours. Some sites are identified with markers.
A driving map and audio tour are available to download here.
