The Comanche National Grassland includes over 440,000 acres in southeast Colorado. On the grassland you can explore the region’s rich history from dinosaurs roaming the shoreline of a vast lake 150 million years ago, to Mexican and American traders traveling the Santa Fe Trail 150 years ago. Many canyons crease the prairie, most featuring rock art panels dating back 1,500 years. Developed sites include Vogel, Picketwire, Carrizo and Picture Canyons.
